Associate General Counsel – Legal Operations

About the role

The Associate General Counsel – Legal Operations leads the legal operations function, providing high‑quality legal support across all business units. This senior position oversees contract management, dispute resolution, corporate advisory and government relations while managing a team of in‑house lawyers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Legal Operations department, ensuring timely and accurate legal services.
• Oversee the full contract lifecycle – drafting, review, negotiation and template development.
• Manage external counsel relationships and supervise litigation, arbitration and dispute strategies.
• Advise internal stakeholders on corporate governance, business structure and regulatory matters (excluding compliance).
• Serve as the primary legal liaison with government authorities, regulators and industry bodies.
• Monitor regulatory developments and provide strategic guidance to senior management.
• Mentor, develop and evaluate a team of qualified lawyers.

Required profile

• LLB or equivalent; LLM or JD is a plus.
• Minimum 10 years post‑qualification experience in corporate/commercial law, preferably in the Middle East.
• Proven experience leading a legal team in a multinational or regional environment.
• High proficiency in Arabic (spoken and written) is an advantage.
• Strong negotiation, drafting and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Strategic thinking, integrity and the capacity to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
