Lead Petroleum Data Analyst

About the role

The Lead Petroleum Data Analyst heads a dedicated team responsible for the full lifecycle of geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and reservoir engineering data. The role ensures data integrity, accessibility, and compliance with the Subsurface Development & Exploration (SD&E) directorate strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee archival, classification, protection, and retrieval of physical and digital subsurface data.
• Manage HSE risks, backup procedures, and disaster‑recovery readiness.
• Deliver standardized data services and digital workflows aligned with business objectives.
• Plan capacity, tier data, and optimise storage across petabyte‑scale systems.
• Automate processes using Python scripts and create visual dashboards (PowerBI, Tableau, Spotfire).
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless data delivery.

Required profile

• 12+ years in the petroleum industry with at least 10 years in seismic data management.
• 5+ years leading teams handling geoscience and petroleum engineering data.
• Multidisciplinary background (petroleum engineering, geoscience, GIS, computer science).
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management abilities.
