Application Architect

About the role

Define, govern and evolve the enterprise application architecture to support GTA business capabilities, digital strategy and target architecture. The role provides architecture direction for application modernisation, solution design and portfolio rationalisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the application portfolio, architecture views, reference architectures and lifecycle roadmaps.
• Assess application fit, health, technical debt, duplication, integration dependencies and alignment to business capabilities.
• Define target-state application architecture, rationalisation recommendations and transition roadmaps.
• Review solution designs, architecture documents and non‑functional requirements for compliance with EA principles.
• Collaborate with solution, data, infrastructure, security and integration teams to ensure coherent end‑to‑end designs.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in application architecture, solution architecture, systems analysis/design or related roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• TOGAF certification required or strongly preferred; ArchiMate, cloud architecture, integration or ITIL certifications are advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of application architecture patterns, API‑led integration and service‑oriented design.
• Practical knowledge of TOGAF and ArchiMate application‑layer modelling.
• Experience with enterprise applications, APIs/integrations, application lifecycle management and modernisation.
• Familiarity with cloud, security, data and integration considerations in enterprise solution design.
