Assistant Engineering Manager

About the role

The Assistant Engineering Manager supports the engineering team at a Delta Hotels property in Doha, ensuring all mechanical, electrical and safety systems operate reliably. This role blends hands‑on technical work with supervisory duties, helping to maintain high guest satisfaction and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances and hotel equipment.
• Calibrate controls, gauges and meters; locate and operate shut‑off valves.
• Order, label, stock parts and supplies; maintain inventory and purchase‑order logs.
• Conduct life‑safety checks, including fire‑pump and generator run tests, and inspect fire‑sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
• Assist in developing disaster‑response protocols and respond to guest repair requests.
• Support management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling and disciplining staff.
• Follow all safety, security and company policies; report hazards and complete required safety training.
• Maintain professional appearance, welcome guests, and ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 2 years of related engineering or facilities experience.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
• No specific license or certification required.

Required skills

• Calibration of gauges, meters and control devices.
• Operation of power lifts and other material‑handling equipment.
• Testing and commissioning of fire‑pump and generator systems.
• Inspection of fire‑sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
• Inventory management and parts ordering using computer‑based systems.
