Compliance Director

About the role

The Compliance Director will lead and continuously improve the compliance framework for a fast‑growing organization operating in Qatar. Reporting to senior management, you will ensure that all business activities are conducted ethically, lawfully, and in line with Qatari legislation, contractual obligations, internal policies, and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and enhance the company’s compliance strategy, policies, and annual plan.
• Monitor Qatari laws, regulations, government directives and relevant international standards, translating them into effective business controls.
• Lead risk‑based compliance assessments, testing programmes and remediation of identified gaps.
• Promote a culture of integrity, overseeing the Code of Conduct, conflicts of interest, gifts, hospitality, whistleblowing and other ethics programmes.
• Establish controls to prevent, detect and respond to bribery, corruption, fraud and related financial‑crime risks.
• Oversee third‑party due diligence and ongoing monitoring of suppliers, contractors and partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Compliance, Risk Management, Business, Finance, Governance or a related field; advanced degree or professional qualification preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of experience, including at least 7 years in a senior compliance, governance, risk, legal or assurance role.
• Proven track record of leading enterprise‑wide compliance programmes in large, complex or highly regulated organisations.
• Experience in infrastructure, utilities, government‑related entities, engineering, construction or other safety‑critical environments is advantageous.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of ISO 37301 (Compliance Management Systems) and ISO 37001 (Anti‑Bribery Management Systems).
• Expertise in regulatory compliance, ethics, anti‑bribery and corruption, and third‑party risk monitoring.
• Experience conducting sensitive investigations and managing significant compliance incidents.
