Design Manager - Transportation

About the role

The Design Manager – Transportation will lead the planning, design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects in Qatar. Reporting to senior leadership, this role serves as the primary client and stakeholder liaison, ensuring seamless coordination across all project phases.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of transportation projects, including roads, bridges, rail systems and public transit infrastructure.
• Develop project plans, schedules and budgets aligned with client requirements and organizational goals.
• Manage risk, quality and change processes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate and review design deliverables to ensure compliance with local regulations (QCS, GSAS) and international standards (IBC, BS, ADA).
• Conduct value engineering studies and propose design optimizations to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
• Liaise with government authorities, clients, contractors and internal teams to secure approvals and maintain alignment.
• Organise and lead workshops, technical meetings and stakeholder presentations.
• Mentor and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, architects and planners.
• Integrate sustainable design practices focusing on energy efficiency and multimodal transport.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Proven experience leading transportation infrastructure design projects.
• Strong knowledge of local Qatari construction standards and international design codes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder relationships.
• Experience with value engineering and sustainable design concepts.

Required skills

• Knowledge of QCS, GSAS, IBC, BS and ADA standards.
