Director of Engineering

About the role

As the Director of Engineering you will lead the engineering and maintenance function of a Hilton hotel, ensuring that the property’s physical plant operates safely, efficiently and in line with the brand’s hospitality standards. You will be responsible for delivering memorable guest experiences through reliable building systems and proactive energy‑saving initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, train, supervise and mentor a high‑performing engineering team; conduct performance reviews and foster professional development.
• Oversee maintenance of mechanical, electrical, HVAC and life‑safety systems, coordinate inspections and ensure compliance with national and local regulations.
• Manage daily maintenance operations through the property maintenance management system, prioritising tasks, resolving service requests, guest concerns and emergencies.
• Support capital projects and property rehabilitations, handling scheduling, budgeting, contractor bidding, licensing and permitting.
• Develop and implement property‑wide energy conservation programs to reduce utility costs.
• Monitor engineering KPIs, equipment upkeep, audit results and team productivity, taking corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with hotel leadership on evacuation procedures, duty manager coverage and other safety protocols.
