EHS Officer - Qatar Operations

About the role

Siemens Energy is looking for an EHS Officer to partner with operational and contractor leadership and strengthen EHS performance across Qatar operations. The role provides technical guidance, operational risk assurance and management system support, verifies critical controls and drives continuous improvement aligned with the company Zero Harm Program, applicable legal requirements and client standards.

Key responsibilities

• Drive implementation and communication of the Zero Harm Program and embed EHS in operational planning, execution and decision-making
• Support delivery of EHS roadmaps, objectives and improvement initiatives
• Provide EHS oversight and technical support for planned and corrective maintenance, outages, projects and other operational activities
• Support risk assessment and safe execution of high-risk activities such as electrical work, LOTO, lifting, work at height, confined spaces and simultaneous operations
• Verify critical risk controls through field engagements, inspections and assessments, and escalate significant gaps
• Support safe mobilization, contractor onboarding, pre-task planning and operational readiness
• Coach site teams on the hierarchy of controls and risk assessment requirements
• Maintain regular field presence at Qatar project sites (at least 60% of working time)
• Support implementation of company and client EHS policies and management system requirements aligned with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
• Identify applicable Qatar EHS legal and regulatory obligations and support compliance assurance
• Conduct or support site EHS inspections, work equipment inspections, internal audits and compliance assessments, and track corrective and preventive actions
• Support environmental management including waste, hazardous materials, spill prevention and pollution control

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in EHS, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline
• At least 6 years of relevant EHS experience, preferably in power generation, energy services, oil and gas or industrial maintenance
• Experience supporting high-risk maintenance, outages, projects or comparable industrial operations
• NEBOSH IGC or an equivalent recognized occupational safety qualification; NEBOSH International Diploma, CSP, ASP or comparable advanced qualification desirable
• Ability to interpret and apply Qatar EHS legal requirements and client standards
• Strong spoken and written English and ability to work independently

Required skills

• Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, incident investigation, risk assessment and critical controls
• Contractor EHS management and occupational health risk management
• Influencing, analytical, presentation, reporting and stakeholder-management skills
• Desirable: ISO 45001/ISO 14001 auditor qualification, experience with continuous improvement, EHS data analysis, digital reporting tools and workplace health and wellbeing programs
