Electrical Technician – Water Treatment

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join a major industrial water and desalination operation. The role involves maintaining and troubleshooting the plant’s electrical systems, including MV/LV switchgear, motor control centres, VFDs, motors, transformers, pumps, UPS systems and related control equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain motors, pumps, MCCs, VFDs, MV/LV switchgear, power transformers and distribution panels.
• Inspect, test and maintain protection relays, circuit breakers and UPS systems.
• Conduct insulation resistance testing and support protection relay testing.
• Carry out electrical isolation and de‑isolation activities following LOTO and Permit‑to‑Work procedures.
• Assist with plant start‑up, shutdown, commissioning and emergency breakdown response.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, control schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Coordinate with operations, mechanical and instrumentation teams to minimise downtime.

Required profile

• Diploma, ITI or Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering/Technology.
• 3–5+ years of hands‑on industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• Strong experience with MV and LV electrical systems, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, motors, transformers and circuit breakers.
• Knowledge of LOTO, Permit‑to‑Work and industrial electrical safety procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical control schematics and single‑line diagrams.
