About the role

The Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) seeks an Executive Director to provide strategic and visionary leadership across its high‑priority Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence programs. The role will shape the institute’s research agenda, enhance its global impact, and align its activities with national and university priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement a research strategy that supports Qatar’s knowledge‑based economy and QCRI’s global reputation.
• Foster a collaborative, interdisciplinary research environment across the institute’s four groups.
• Secure diverse funding sources, including government, industry, and international grants.
• Build and strengthen partnerships with leading universities, research centers, industry partners, and technology companies.
• Oversee the institute’s budget, recruitment, mentorship, and performance evaluation processes.

Required profile

• Proven, uninterrupted research track record in computing‑related disciplines.
• Strong awareness of emerging developments in artificial intelligence and related fields.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a research or academic setting.
• Ability to attract and manage high‑impact research talent.
