Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher

About the role

Hayat Universal School in Doha is looking for a dedicated Grade 1 Homeroom Teacher to deliver the British Columbia Canada Ministry of Education curriculum to a diverse classroom. The role involves creating a supportive learning environment that encourages inquiry, differentiation and cultural respect.

Key responsibilities

• Plan instruction at yearly, unit, weekly and daily levels, aligning with the British Columbia curriculum and school‑mandated programs.
• Apply effective teaching strategies and resources to support differentiated learning for students of varying skill levels and learning styles.
• Organise and lead enrichment activities such as field trips, showcases, concerts, plays and productions at class or school level.
• Communicate assignments and objectives clearly to students, using precise language.
• Assign homework that extends classroom learning, appropriate to age, ability and independence, and includes open‑ended activities.

Required profile

• Experience in differentiated learning and student inquiry instruction (strongly preferred).
• Experience in ESL education (strongly preferred).
• International experience or a demonstrated respect for other cultures.
