Head, Drug Release Section

About the role

The Head of the Drug Release Section will lead the critical process of screening and releasing medicines imported into Qatar. Reporting to senior health authorities, this role ensures that all pharmaceutical products meet the highest standards of safety, efficacy, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Drug Release Section team.
• Manage and mentor staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with national pharmaceutical regulations, including Pharmacy Act No. 3 of 1983.
• Oversee the release of all imported medicines, verifying their validity, effectiveness, and regulatory adherence.
• Implement rigorous inspection protocols and coordinate the destruction of non‑compliant products.
• Stay current with regulatory changes and update procedures accordingly.
• Develop and maintain robust quality‑assurance processes.
• Coordinate laboratory testing of incoming samples to confirm ingredients and compliance.
• Conduct regular audits, inspections, and process‑optimization initiatives.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and pharmaceutical companies.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a pharmaceutical or regulatory environment.
• Strong knowledge of national drug‑release regulations and quality‑assurance standards.
• Ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and drive continuous improvement.
• Excellent analytical skills for reviewing inspection reports and audit findings.
