Infrared Thermography Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Infrared Thermography Engineer to support condition monitoring and reliability of electrical transmission and distribution substations. The role involves performing infrared inspections, detecting thermal anomalies, and ensuring safe, accurate compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform infrared thermographic inspections on electrical transmission and distribution substations.
• Conduct condition monitoring activities following approved procedures, method statements, and project requirements.
• Detect thermal anomalies, abnormal heating, and potential defects in high‑voltage electrical equipment.
• Analyse thermographic images and inspection data to assess equipment condition and recommend corrective actions.
• Report critical findings and equipment abnormalities promptly to the Team Leader.
• Prepare detailed thermography reports, inspection records, and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental (HSE) and permit‑to‑work requirements for high‑voltage installations.
• Operate, handle, and maintain infrared thermographic equipment according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Participate in technical, safety, and professional development training as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in condition monitoring of electrical transmission and distribution substations.
• Hands‑on experience performing infrared thermographic inspections on high‑voltage electrical equipment.
• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Strong understanding of electrical transmission and distribution systems and associated safety practices.
