About the role
The Marine Operations Superintendent ensures safe, efficient and cost‑effective operation of vessels while meeting flag state, regulatory, company and customer requirements. The role oversees navigation, seamanship and cargo‑handling policies and acts as the Owner’s representative for commercial ship‑to‑ship activities.
Key responsibilities
- Manage cargo operations and ensure compliance with international regulations, flag state rules and customer specifications.
- Coordinate vessel vetting, including SIRE and CDI inspections, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate vessel data in systems such as VPQ, SIRE, TMSA and Q88.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections, internal audits and safety, security and environmental assessments in line with the SMS and ISM Code.
- Support and improve the organisation’s Safety Management System together with the HSSEQ function.
- Oversee voyage planning, performance monitoring and adherence to charter‑party obligations.
Required profile
- Proven experience in marine operations, cargo management and vessel compliance.
- Strong knowledge of flag state requirements, international maritime regulations and industry standards.
- Ability to lead audits, inspections and corrective action programmes.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with owners, operators, charterers and regulatory bodies.
