Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Desalination

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support the safe and reliable operation of a large‑scale desalination facility. The role focuses on mechanical maintenance of reverse‑osmosis (RO) systems, pumps, valves, rotating equipment and associated plant machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, compressors and piping systems.
• Maintain RO plant equipment including high‑pressure pumps, booster pumps, pressure vessels, RO skids and membranes, filters, strainers, chemical dosing systems, valves, actuators, heat exchangers, cranes and lifting equipment.
• Perform equipment alignment, lubrication and condition monitoring.
• Participate in commissioning, startup and shutdown activities.
• Assist in root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Complete maintenance reports and update CMMS/work orders.
• Coordinate with operations, electrical and instrumentation teams.
• Follow permit‑to‑work procedures and HSE requirements.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and plant call‑outs.

Required profile

• Diploma or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Maintenance.
• 3–5 years of experience in desalination, water treatment, power plants, oil & gas or similar industrial facilities.
• Experience with RO desalination systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of rotating and static equipment maintenance.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS).
