About the role
The Dr. Halama Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine‑Qatar seeks a motivated Postdoctoral Associate to lead cutting‑edge research on cancer metabolism and tumor progression. This full‑time, onsite position involves designing, executing, and interpreting laboratory experiments that integrate functional genomics, metabolic profiling, and experimental biology.
Key responsibilities
- Design and conduct independent experiments investigating cancer metabolism and disease progression.
- Collaborate with principal investigators and multidisciplinary teams to develop study designs and experimental approaches.
- Perform and optimize molecular and cellular techniques, including CRISPR‑Cas9 gene editing and cell‑based assays.
- Carry out biochemical and functional assays such as enzyme activity and metabolic pathway analyses.
- Support in vivo studies using mouse models while ensuring compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
- Analyze data, prepare reports, figures, and manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.
- Present findings at internal meetings and external scientific conferences.
- Mentor junior team members and maintain accurate laboratory records.
Required profile
- PhD in Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Relevant post‑qualification research experience.
- Strong background in cancer research, preferably focusing on metabolism or biochemical pathways.
Required skills
- CRISPR‑Cas9 gene editing.
- Cell culture and molecular biology techniques.
- Functional and biochemical assays, including enzyme activity analysis.
- Experience with ex vivo mouse models.
- Knowledge of metabolomics or multi‑omics approaches.
- Familiarity with mitochondrial metabolism or redox biology (advantageous).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; R or similar data‑analysis tools are a plus.
