Respiratory Therapist I (Pediatric/Neonatal)

About the role

The Respiratory Therapist I provides respiratory care to pediatric and neonatal patients. The role requires novice knowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy, physiology and the use of respiratory therapy equipment. The therapist also supports patient and family education and contributes to departmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments, identify diseases, and deliver therapeutic, interventional, and diagnostic respiratory care.
• Ensure all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.
• Supervise and teach junior and new staff members within the department.
• Educate patients, families, and the public about respiratory health and therapy options.

Required profile

• Novice knowledge of pediatric and/or neonatal cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology.
• Novice knowledge and clinical acumen in using all medical devices and techniques for respiratory therapy in pediatric and neonatal populations.
• Demonstrated professional skills in patient assessment, disease identification, evaluation, and administration of clinical therapeutic, interventional, and diagnostic care.
