Rig Manager

About the role

The Rig Manager (Rig Superintendent) leads the performance and profitability of assigned drilling rigs within the Operations department. Reporting to senior leadership, the role is responsible for safe, efficient drilling and well‑completion activities while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day drilling operations and well‑completion to ensure technical success and cost efficiency.
• Manage overall rig performance, profitability, and operational integrity.
• Enforce quality assurance and HSE standards, leading safety initiatives on‑site.
• Lead, motivate and supervise multiple drilling crews and subcontractors, including training and development.
• Coordinate rig logistics, supply chains and external support services to avoid operational interruptions.
• Act as primary on‑site contact for clients, building lasting relationships and addressing stakeholder needs.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in oil‑field drilling and wellbore operations.
• Proven track record of leading and managing multiple drilling crews.
• Demonstrated ability to optimise drilling performance, reduce costs and meet project timelines.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and a commitment to safety leadership.
• High school diploma required; technical degree or diploma in Drilling Technology or related engineering field preferred.
• Valid IWCF or IADC Well Control certificate at the Supervisor level; additional industry‑recognized drilling or HSE certifications are a plus.
