Rotor Balancer – Gas Turbine Rotors

About the role

The Rotor Balancer will join the Qatar Service Center team to ensure Baker Hughes standards and organizational needs are met for gas turbine rotor and component servicing. You will be responsible for dynamic balancing, machining, and mechanical activities on rotors, compressors, and related parts.

Key responsibilities

• Operate horizontal and vertical dynamic balance machines to locate and correct imbalance on rotors, compressor discs, shafts, and impeller wheels.
• Perform turning, drilling, milling, grinding, and boring operations to required specifications.
• Disassemble and re‑assemble gas turbine and compressor rotors.
• Conduct visual dye‑penetrant, dimensional, run‑out (mechanical & electrical), and visual inspections of components.
• Complete accurate documentation: job cards, labor reports, checklists, and inspection reports.
• Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance on balancing equipment and auxiliaries.
• Maintain a clean, HSE‑compliant work area and update digital shop systems (work orders, time vouchering, operation completion).

Required profile

• Diploma in Engineering or equivalent high‑school qualification.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in balancing, machining, and mechanical work on gas turbine rotors.
• Proven experience with dynamic balancing machines (horizontal & vertical) using belt or coupling drives.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of rotor disassembly/assembly procedures.
