Environment, Health and Safety (SHEQ) Manager – Maritime

About the role

The company is looking for an experienced SHEQ Manager with a strong maritime background to lead Safety, Health, Environment & Quality across its towage fleet, crew, and on‑shore operations. The role involves maintaining up‑to‑date SHEQ policies, ensuring compliance with local and international maritime regulations, and fostering a robust safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the Safety Management System (HMS) in line with international and local standards.
• Monitor industry developments on SHEQ regulations, assess impact and integrate best practices.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure full compliance with SHEQ standards and KPIs.
• Develop, communicate and enforce SHEQ policies and procedures, ensuring stakeholder adherence.
• Act as the SHEQ ambassador for internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage internal and external audits (e.g., OVMSA, ISM, ISPS, OVID) and oversee audit closure.
• Support operations in liaising with flag registries and class authorities for audit scheduling and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marine/Nautical Sciences or Safety Management.
• Significant maritime/offshore experience, preferably ocean‑going and towage industry background.
• Relevant certifications such as DPA, CSO, NEBOSH, CMIOSH, MIIRSM or RSP are preferred.

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of towage industry procedures and standards.
• Solid knowledge of risk and incident management tools and practices.
• Familiarity with ISM/SMS principles and procedures.
