Material Inspector

About the role

WSP is seeking an experienced Material Inspector to join its construction teams. The role involves ensuring that all incoming construction materials meet project specifications and quality standards, contributing to the successful delivery of infrastructure projects worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials such as concrete, asphalt, steel, and aggregates and verify compliance with approved submittals and specifications.
• Review material approval documents, test certificates, and supplier documentation.
• Coordinate with accredited laboratories for material testing, including concrete cube tests, soil tests, and asphalt tests.
• Witness sampling and testing procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of materials on‑site to prevent damage or contamination.
• Identify non‑conforming materials, issue non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and maintain inspection records.
• Prepare and maintain documentation in accordance with project requirements.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a Material Inspector on construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials and testing standards.
• Familiarity with QCS and international standards such as ASTM, BS, and AASHTO.
• Experience working with approved laboratories and testing procedures.
• Excellent reporting and documentation skills.
