Academic Instructor – English as a Foreign Language (EFL)

About the role

We are seeking an energetic Academic Instructor to teach English as a Foreign Language (EFL) within the School of Foundation Studies at the College of the North Atlantic – Qatar. The successful candidate will develop and deliver curriculum-aligned courses, support student learning, and contribute to the college’s research and community engagement goals.

Key responsibilities

• Design course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, instructional materials and assessments that align with curriculum outcomes and industry requirements.
• Deliver engaging EFL instruction using diverse teaching strategies to meet varied student needs and improve retention.
• Participate in faculty, course and program meetings, and contribute to initiatives that monitor and enhance student success.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance and grades, and provide timely feedback.
• Utilize the college’s Learning Management System (D2L) to create high‑quality learning support materials.
• Oversee teaching assistants, ensuring laboratory equipment and instructional resources are prepared.
• Engage in scholarly activities that support Qatar’s research priorities and maintain membership in relevant professional organizations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated record of effective teaching experience in English language instruction.
• Strong commitment to the college’s mission of applied sciences and technology education.
• Ability to develop curriculum and assessments that reflect industry standards.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems, specifically D2L.
