Assistant Buyer – Procurement for Oil & Gas

About the role

Airswift is looking for an Assistant Buyer to support a major oil & gas client in Qatar. The role focuses on converting purchase requisitions into purchase orders while ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the purchasing process efficiently, turning requisitions into purchase orders in line with OP regulations.
• Apply appropriate sourcing strategies to meet oil & gas operational needs.
• Review user requirements, technical specifications, lead times, quantities and values, resolving any inconsistencies.
• Conduct technical and commercial evaluations, price comparisons and prepare award recommendations.
• Prepare purchase orders, change orders and manage variations.
• Support SLA/KPI reporting, bond administration, progress payments and expedite critical deliveries.
• Execute pre‑qualification and technical proposal exercises to develop specifications and price estimates.
• Assist in expediting material deliveries and monitor vendor performance.
• Track market trends that may affect price or delivery of equipment.
• Maintain high integrity, confidentiality and foster strong internal and external relationships.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in purchasing equipment and materials, preferably in oil & gas.
• Ability to read drawings and technical documents.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of SAP.
• Good understanding of material specifications.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
