Business Development Director - MENA Region

About the role

The Group Business Development Director for the MENA region will lead the identification and acquisition of large‑scale infrastructure projects across the Middle East, North Africa and Sub‑Saharan Africa. Reporting to senior investment leadership, the role combines market scouting, stakeholder engagement and deal execution to build a robust pipeline of ports, airports, power, oil & gas, water, agriculture and other critical assets.

Key responsibilities

• Source and originate investment opportunities across a wide range of infrastructure sectors, maintaining a continuous pipeline of qualified deals.
• Develop and implement a regional business development strategy targeting governments, asset owners, operators and strategic partners.
• Establish and nurture relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies and co‑investors to secure access to new projects.
• Lead preliminary market research, commercial feasibility studies and preparation of investment memoranda for the Investment Committee.
• Collaborate with sector teams to define stage‑gate processes, cost‑estimation standards and governance templates for project maturation.
• Support transaction structuring, commercial negotiation and due‑diligence activities together with the investment deal team.

Required profile

• Proven track record in business development or investment origination within infrastructure or related sectors.
• Extensive experience working with government entities and public‑sector stakeholders in the MENA region.
• Strong understanding of project finance, deal structuring and investment committee processes.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with ability to influence senior decision‑makers.

Required skills

• Fluency in English; additional language(s) relevant to the MENA region a plus.
• Deep knowledge of infrastructure sectors such as ports, airports, power generation, oil & gas, water, agriculture, real estate, mining and pipelines.
• Experience with market research, financial modelling and investment memorandum preparation.
