Category Manager – Retail & FMCG

About the role

The Category Manager will lead and own the full category strategy to drive sales, profitability, market share and product availability across both offline and e‑commerce channels. This role ensures a customer‑focused offering, healthy inventory levels and strong supplier relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an overall category strategy aligned with company goals, defining sales, margin, pricing and availability targets.
• Approve assortment mix based on consumer insights, sales performance and market trends; lead SKU rationalisation and seasonal planning.
• Monitor inventory health, work with supply‑chain teams to maintain optimal stock levels and resolve availability issues.
• Establish and maintain strong partnerships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, rebates, trade terms and promotional support.
• Set pricing architecture, approve regular and promotional prices, and lead promotion planning with marketing and marketplace teams.
• Analyse customer behaviour, sales trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and drive data‑based decisions.
• Collaborate with media partnership teams to secure supplier investments, manage listing fees, visibility activities and digital ads.
• Lead monthly category closing, prepare detailed commercial analysis and reports for senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or a related field.
• 4‑6 years of experience in FMCG or retail category management.
