Clinical Nurse - Pediatrics Nephrology, Rheumatology and Transplant

About the role

Sidra Medicine is recruiting a Clinical Nurse for its pediatric nephrology, rheumatology and transplant unit. The nurse provides safe, effective direct care to neonates, infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school-age children, adolescents and young adults in an acute care setting, and is accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Assess care needs, plan, implement and evaluate care programmes for patients and families, including discharge planning
• Provide care for conditions such as nephrotic syndrome, acute and chronic renal failure, pre- and post-renal biopsy and transplant, and other acute medical and surgical diagnoses
• Educate patients, families and students; supervise, orient and mentor new staff
• Document care accurately and promptly, maintain confidentiality and follow hospital policies and the Code of Conduct
• Take part in quality improvement, shared leadership and evidence-based practice
• Maintain own licensure, life support certifications and CPD requirements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (4 years)
• Registered Nurse with a valid professional nursing licence in the country of origin
• 2+ years of recent clinical nursing experience in the relevant specialty; no minimum experience required for University of Calgary Qatar graduates
• Preferrable: postgraduate certificate in a specialty from the country of origin
• Fluent written and spoken English

Required skills

• Head-to-toe assessment, IV fluid management, specimen collection, medication administration and basic monitoring including early warning scores
• Nutrition and enteral feeding, pain assessment, wound and skin integrity care, central venous access devices and transfusion management
• Peritoneal dialysis
• Microsoft Office suite
