Electrical Distribution Technician (High Voltage)

About the role

The Electrical Distribution Technician will operate, maintain, inspect and repair high‑ and medium‑voltage electrical distribution systems that support airfield and base operations at Al Udeid Air Base. The position focuses on ensuring reliable power delivery and functional airfield lighting for runways, taxiways and aprons, while complying with safety and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair high‑ and medium‑voltage distribution equipment.
• Maintain, inspect and repair airfield lighting systems, including runway, taxiway, apron and navigational lights.
• Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on electrical infrastructure and equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical manuals.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, lockout/tagout procedures and site‑specific regulations.
• Coordinate with airfield operations and other maintenance disciplines to meet mission requirements.
• Document maintenance actions, inspections and system status accurately.
• Respond to emergency outages and mission‑critical electrical issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician certification.
• At least five years of hands‑on experience with high‑ or medium‑voltage distribution systems.
• Minimum five years of experience in airfield lighting maintenance.
• DoD Secret clearance and ability to meet USCENTCOM deployment requirements.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; U.S. passport preferred.
• Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions and endure long hours.
