General Counsel - Corporate Affairs and Governance

About the role

This position is based in Doha, Qatar. It safeguards the organization's reputation and its structural integrity, acting as the main link between internal governance (Board operations, policy and compliance) and external affairs (government relations, public policy and stakeholder engagement).

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the governance framework, ensuring accountability, fairness and transparency across the Board and its subsidiaries.
• Act as the company's public image sentinel, managing relations with media and government bodies.
• Monitor and influence the legislative landscape so that corporate interests are reflected in law and operations stay compliant.
• Support the Board secretariat by coordinating high-level meetings, managing board calendars and documenting executive decisions.
• Create and maintain the Corporate Governance Manual, Code of Ethics and Delegation of Authority frameworks.
• Advise the Management and Board on reputational risks, public policy trends and governance best practices.
• Lead the legal and public response to high-stakes issues such as regulatory investigations or reputational threats.
• Oversee internal governance audits and ensure accurate, timely statutory filings and regulatory disclosures.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Law and a passed US bar exam (optional), with at least 5 years in a senior management capacity.
• 5-10 years of experience in governance, compliance or corporate affairs, with a proven track record in highly regulated industries.
• Bilingual Arabic and English (not mandatory).
