General Manager – Shipping Agency (Container Line)

About the role

We are looking for an accomplished General Manager to lead our Shipping Agency (Container Line) operations in Qatar. The role carries full P&L responsibility and oversees commercial, operational, finance, compliance and strategic growth across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Assume full regional P&L ownership and develop strategies to drive revenue, profitability and market share.
• Lead end‑to‑end shipping agency functions, including vessel agency, container logistics, documentation and coordination with ports, terminals and authorities.
• Develop and execute commercial plans, acquire new customers, retain existing accounts and negotiate contracts and tenders.
• Maintain strong relationships with container line principals, freight forwarders, NVOCCs and key customers.
• Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, company policies and statutory requirements.
• Optimize vessel turnaround, cargo handling and supply‑chain processes to improve efficiency and cost control.
• Provide leadership to multi‑functional teams, fostering operational excellence and high service standards.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in container line or liner shipping operations.
• Proven track record of managing multi‑functional teams and delivering sustainable business growth.
• Strong commercial mindset with experience in contract negotiation and business development.
• Ability to manage regional P&L and drive operational excellence.
