Graduate Trainee Engineer – Automation (Qatari National)

About the role

We are seeking a Graduate Trainee Engineer specialized in Industrial Automation to support PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems. The role involves independent troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and delivering effective technical support within a process‑industry environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on PLC systems, control panels, and field instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot faults in PLC, HMI, SCADA, and industrial networks (Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, Profibus).
• Maintain system documentation, backup programs, manage firmware upgrades and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Support project documentation including functional specifications, I/O lists and system architecture diagrams.

Required profile

• Technical School Diploma or equivalent in Instrumentation, Electronics or Industrial Automation.
• 1‑2 years of hands‑on experience with Rockwell Automation (ControlLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View SE) in the process industry.
• Proactive attitude, ability to work under pressure and willingness to learn.

Required skills

• Ladder Logic, Functional Block, Structured Text programming.
• Industrial protocols: Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP.
• PLC redundancy configuration, SCADA server/client setup, Historian/SQL data logging.
• Network diagnostics, program backup/restore, electrical & instrumentation maintenance.
