Head Chef – Japanese Cuisine

About the role

Desert Rose Qatar is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead its Japanese kitchen in Doha. You will be responsible for delivering authentic, high‑quality Japanese dishes while driving menu innovation and ensuring an exceptional guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and execute Japanese menus, including sushi, sashimi, tempura and traditional hot dishes.
• Oversee food preparation, plating and presentation to maintain authentic standards.
• Manage kitchen staff, create schedules, and provide training on techniques and safety.
• Control inventory, ordering and food costs while ensuring compliance with hygiene and food‑safety regulations.
• Collaborate with management on new offerings, promotions and guest feedback.
• Maintain a clean, organized and efficient kitchen environment.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Japanese cuisine, preferably in high‑end or fine‑dining settings.
• Proven leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene standards and cost control.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills in a fast‑paced environment.
• Fluency in English; Japanese language is a plus.
