Head of Research

About the role

The Head of Research at Aspetar will lead the hospital’s research agenda, ensuring that projects align with international best practices and the institution’s clinical and performance objectives. This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Doha, Qatar, and reports directly to executive leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evaluate multidisciplinary research projects in sports medicine and orthopaedics.
• Mentor and supervise research teams, including early‑career scientists.
• Coordinate collaborations with academic institutions, sports organisations, and external partners.
• Secure research funding, manage grant budgets, and oversee compliance with ministerial laws and ethics regulations.
• Oversee data governance, research ethics processes, and ensure high‑quality publications and conference presentations.
• Translate research findings into clinical practice and athlete‑care programmes.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in sports medicine, orthopaedics, exercise science or a related field.
• Proven track record of peer‑reviewed publications and international research collaborations.
• Extensive experience leading multidisciplinary research teams and mentoring junior researchers.
• Demonstrated ability to obtain research funding and manage budgets.
• Familiarity with international accreditation and regulatory standards is an asset.
