Housekeeping Supervisor

About the role

The Housekeeping Supervisor leads the daily operations of the housekeeping department in a five‑star luxury hotel. This position ensures that guest rooms, public areas and back‑of‑house spaces consistently meet the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily housekeeping activities and assign tasks to room attendants and cleaners.
• Train and mentor new team members on cleaning techniques, SOPs, safety procedures and guest service.
• Monitor performance, provide feedback and address issues to maintain service quality.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas and back‑of‑house spaces, verifying standards for linens, toiletries and overall cleanliness.
• Address non‑conforming areas promptly and implement corrective actions.
• Manage housekeeping supplies, monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering within budget limits.
• Ensure proper storage and use of cleaning chemicals in line with health and safety guidelines.
• Respond to guest requests and complaints related to housekeeping, resolving issues efficiently.
• Enforce hotel policies, safety protocols and grooming standards among staff.
• Report maintenance issues to the maintenance team for swift resolution.
• Create daily cleaning schedules, assign rooms and maintain accurate records of tasks, inventory and guest issues.
• Assist in preparing performance reports and participating in employee evaluations.
• Attend daily meetings and follow instructions from the Executive Housekeeper or Assistant Executive Housekeeper.

Required profile

• Previous experience supervising housekeeping staff in a luxury hotel environment.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning SOPs, health and safety regulations and hotel policies.
• Ability to train, mentor and evaluate team members.
• Attention to detail for conducting inspections and maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Capability to manage inventory, order supplies and stay within budget.
• Excellent guest‑service orientation with the ability to handle requests and complaints promptly.
• Punctuality, adherence to uniform and grooming standards, and a commitment to teamwork.
