Interventional Cardiology Specialist

About the role

The Interventional Cardiology Specialist provides comprehensive, evidence‑based cardiovascular care in a tertiary‑care hospital. The role involves diagnosing, treating and managing acute and chronic heart diseases, performing interventional procedures, and contributing to quality and safety initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterisation, coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) within granted privileges.
• Provide inpatient, outpatient, emergency and on‑call cardiology services, including management of acute coronary syndromes.
• Interpret and report ECGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, Holter monitoring and other cardiac imaging.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, participate in rounds, case discussions and handovers.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation and adhere to patient safety, infection control and clinical governance standards.
• Engage in quality improvement projects, audits, morbidity‑mortality meetings and accreditation activities.
• Participate in continuing medical education, research and professional development.

Required profile

• Medical Degree (MBBS/MD) from a recognised institution.
• Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Cardiology.
• Sub‑specialty training in Interventional Cardiology.
• Eligibility for Specialist – Interventional Cardiology licensure with the Department of Healthcare Professions, Qatar.
• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum of 2 years post‑specialty experience in Interventional Cardiology within a governmental, academic or tertiary‑care setting.
