Loss Prevention Site Engineer

About the role

WSP is seeking a Loss Prevention Site Engineer to lead the implementation and monitoring of loss‑prevention, safety and risk‑management programmes for 440 kV substations and associated transmission line projects. The role ensures that all construction, testing and commissioning activities comply with client requirements, statutory regulations, international standards and company HSE policies.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor contractor work and verify compliance with tender specifications and contract conditions.
• Oversee erection, testing and commissioning of fire detection & alarm, deluge water spray, sprinkler, water‑mist, clean‑agent (FM200), fire‑extinguisher, transformer explosion prevention, fire‑pump, passive fire protection, smoke extraction, lightning protection, emergency lighting and security management systems.
• Manage interfaces between loss‑prevention systems and HVAC, smoke, security, explosion‑prevention, substation control and NCC systems.
• Ensure all installations are performed according to approved drawings, method statements and procedural documents.
• Verify and approve materials in line with contract specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Fire‑Protection Engineering from a recognised university.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in loss‑prevention engineering on major transmission or water projects.
• Proven experience in design, inspection, erection and commissioning of loss‑prevention systems.
• Experience preparing preliminary studies, tender documents, contract procedures, technical specifications and bid evaluations.
• Full knowledge of relevant NFPA codes and standards and membership in NFPA (USA).
