Manager - Innovation

About the role

Sidra Medicine is looking for a Manager - Innovation to foster a culture of innovation, drive the development of cutting-edge technologies and facilitate the transfer of research outcomes into marketable products and services. The role oversees innovation activities, runs the Tech Transfer Office and works with academia, industry and government to maximise the impact of the Hub's initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement innovation strategies aligned with the mission and goals of the innovation and tech transfer, clinically and in research, and lead the execution of innovation programmes
• Oversee the Tech Transfer Office, including IP, patents and licensing agreements, and connect inventors with industry partners, investors and commercialisation pathways
• Negotiate and manage contracts, licences and partnerships with external entities
• Manage innovation programmes such as incubators, accelerators and startup support, and mentor startups and entrepreneurs
• Track KPIs and report regularly to the Director of Research Operations and Services
• Promote a culture of innovation, stay informed on trends and share insights with the team and stakeholders
• Support the director of research operations in executing innovation goals and priorities

Required profile

• Masters degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Science, Business, Innovation Management); a PhD or MBA is preferred
• 7-10 years of experience in innovation management, technology transfer or a related field; exceptions of up to two years may be granted to Qatari nationals
• Experience in an academic or research setting is highly desirable; 10+ years plus people management and experience in the Gulf or Middle East region are preferred
• Fluency in written and spoken English

Required skills

• Certified Innovation Leader (CIL) or Lean Six Sigma certification, and PMP or PRINCE2 certification
• Strong understanding of intellectual property, technology transfer and commercialisation, especially in healthcare or biotech
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills
