Mechanical Engineer – Al Udeid Air Base

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer will support the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) at Al Udeid Air Base, Doha, Qatar. The role involves planning, designing, and overseeing mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression across central utility plants.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression systems for code compliance.
• Inspect construction, perform quality control, and review submittals beyond the scope of construction managers.
• Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of centralized heat, gas, water, and steam systems.
• Attend project meetings, travel to local sites for compliance verification, and perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
• At least 10 years of experience in construction or facility maintenance, with strong knowledge of engineering principles, project management, and code compliance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD 2025 or later for creating accurate facility plans.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
• Technical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression systems, and central utility plants.
• Experience with design review, QA/QC, safety, and project controls.
