MHPSS Associate (Counsellor)

About the role

The MHPSS Associate will support the delivery of mental health and psychosocial support services at Camp As Sayliyah, under the supervision of the Head of Office and Programme Manager. The role involves organising group and individual counselling sessions, facilitating referrals and contributing to monitoring and reporting activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in organising individual and group MHPSS sessions and coordinating mental health specialists.
• Support primary caregivers in providing assistance to families with mental health challenges.
• Help develop and implement recovery plans for individuals, couples, families and groups.
• Organise workshops and platforms to disseminate MHPSS information and advocacy messages.
• Enter service data into the Smart Camp SYNC system and produce visibility materials.
• Facilitate capacity‑building activities for IOM staff, partners and community volunteers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in counselling psychology or related field with at least three years of relevant experience, or high school diploma with five years of experience.
• Proven experience in a mental health counselling unit or working with at‑risk communities.
• Experience liaising with governmental, diplomatic and international stakeholders.
• Fluency in English (oral and written); knowledge of Dari/Farsi/Pashto is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of MHPSS programming and community‑based interventions.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in a multicultural setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data‑entry/database management.
