Plant Inspector – Mechanical Integrity & Reliability

About the role

The Plant Inspector is responsible for developing and executing inspection and testing programs that mitigate risks identified through Risk Based Inspection (RBI). This role ensures the safe operation of pressure vessels, piping, and tanks while supporting reliability improvement initiatives across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and conduct day‑to‑day inspections of assigned plant areas according to schedule.
• Perform corrective repair inspections, prepare and approve repair and alteration travel sheets, and conduct stage‑wise inspections.
• Document inspections in Meridium, generate SAP notifications, and follow up on recommendations with maintenance and production teams.
• Manage PRV schedules, turnaround inspections, and act as the site representative for external NDT technicians and contract inspectors.
• Coordinate NDT technicians, verify contractor quality documentation, and lead toolbox talks and safety coaching.
• Lead teams of contract inspectors/NDT technicians during turnarounds and support reliability improvement projects (RITs).
• Conduct root‑cause failure analysis, ensure compliance with OE, ISO 9001, Responsible Care, and insurance requirements, and manage internal and external audits.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of departmental policies, processes, and procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience in plant inspection, mechanical integrity, or reliability engineering within an industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of RBI methodology, ISO 9001 standards, and insurance audit processes.
• Ability to work onsite, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and lead contract inspection teams.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills to produce clear inspection reports and recommendations.
