About the role
The Principal Geologist (Studies) will lead geological activities for the Idd El‑Shargi field, updating models, conducting reservoir studies and providing guidance for well operations. This senior position requires deep expertise in carbonate reservoirs and mature field development.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor, control and supervise geological work to keep the field model up‑to‑date.
- Perform reservoir modelling studies, integrate production data and manage uncertainty.
- Analyse subsurface data, generate optimized well locations and well proposals.
- Supervise the construction and regular update of 3‑D static models for dynamic simulation and field development planning.
- Provide geological input for appraisal, development, infill wells and short‑, medium‑ and long‑term field strategies.
- Lead QA/QC of geological data, maintain databases and coordinate with contractors.
- Coach and develop less‑experienced Qatari staff.
Required profile
- Minimum 20 years of oil‑and‑gas experience, including at least 10 years in reservoir modelling.
- Strong background in carbonate reservoirs and mature field integration.
- Advanced degree in Geology or Geophysics (preferred).
- Proven ability to work in multicultural, integrated asset teams.
Required skills
- Geoframe and Openwork software.
- @Risk / Crystal Ball.
- Petrel and RMS platforms.
- Reservoir static modelling, geostatistics, well‑log analysis, seismic interpretation and reservoir simulation.
- Horizontal well technology and geo‑steering.
