QA/QC / Materials Engineer

About the role

Parsons is looking for a QA/QC / Materials Engineer to join its team in Qatar. The role covers all aspects of material quality control, testing and assurance on large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications and international standards through planning, coordination and implementation of QA/QC practices.

Key responsibilities

• Review and evaluate material submittals against project specifications and applicable standards, and support the construction team with submissions, approvals, testing and sampling.
• Take part in quality control of materials, including laboratory and field testing, acceptance of used materials and review of remedial and corrective measures.
• Inspect materials used in sewerage, drainage, outfalls, pump stations, treatment works, roads and highways.
• Prepare, implement and monitor QA/QC plans aligned with international quality assurance standards and project requirements.
• Analyze laboratory and technical reports, run acceptance sampling plans and carry out testing and quality control measures.
• Lead and motivate the project QA/QC team, including Senior Works Inspectors / Works Inspectors (Materials).
• Produce technical reports on material testing, quality control and compliance.
• Participate in all project phases, from design and construction to testing, commissioning and close-out, and plan close-out documentation and approvals with stakeholders such as Drainage Operation and Maintenance, Road Maintenance, EBD-DCU and municipalities.
• Coordinate with internal and external parties to obtain clearances and approvals for project completion and handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a directly related field, subject to approval by the Engineer.
• 10 years of total post-graduate experience, including at least 7 years in similar materials / QA/QC roles on large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Extensive experience in quality control and assurance for sewerage, drainage, road and highway construction and related civil works.
• Valid MME (UPDA) registration in Qatar.

Required skills

• Strong background in Quality Assurance Specifications, Statistical Quality Control and materials testing (laboratory and field).
• In-depth knowledge of international QA/QC standards and experience implementing them on major infrastructure projects.
• Ability to lead QA/QC teams, manage material testing, supervise materials inspectors and interpret complex contract documents, plans, specifications and shop drawings.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with high-quality technical documentation.
• Desired: experience in arid terrain, urban design and supervision, and advanced proficiency in Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and digital imagery/visualization software.
