Rectification Controller

About the role

The Rectification Controller reports to the Forward Maintenance Manager and is a skilled maintenance technician who prioritises and allocates manpower. The post holder needs an excellent understanding of Typhoon aircraft systems and reporting processes, and is responsible for accurate maintenance and updating of ESS State Board estimates and forecasts of aircraft recovery times.

Key responsibilities

• Brief the Part M organisation on the state of the Typhoon fleet and recovery actions, and brief squadron-authorised pilots on aircraft limitations
• Provide leadership and supervision to team members, ensuring maintenance is carried out to schedule and escalating issues as required
• Carry out rectification control tasking, including ground handling, flight servicing, role changes, inspections, repairs, modifications, fault rectifications, replacements and functional tests
• Develop team members through formal assessment processes and guide them on competent, authorised work
• Maintain personal and team task authorisations and meet delivery targets through effective supervision
• Evaluate faults, raise ad hoc work cards for found faults, and carry out independent inspections
• Manage regulatory compliance, Part 145 documentation and airworthiness records, and promote human factors, risk management and safety assurance
• Support regulatory changes such as ITAR, EaPW and ISO, and respond to audit findings

Required profile

• Engineering Apprenticeship (City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 or equivalent), ideally in Aeronautical Engineering, or a recognised engineering degree
• Minimum 2 years at supervisor level before this role
• 5 years of practical experience applying aviation safety standards and operating practices
• 2 years of relevant work experience as an operator in the aircraft maintenance environment, with a log book of skills, knowledge and authorities
• 6 months of experience on the type in the last two years
• Knowledge of Acceptable Means of Compliance
