Secondary English Teacher

About the role

The school is seeking a dedicated Secondary English Teacher to deliver high‑quality instruction to students from Grades 6 through 12, covering both the national curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The role involves creating an engaging, respectful learning environment that motivates pupils to achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Teach English to Grades 6‑8 (Years 7‑9) and Grades 9‑12 (Years 10‑13) including IBDP.
• Plan and deliver well‑structured lessons that align with curriculum standards.
• Set high expectations, establish a safe classroom atmosphere, and promote mutual respect.
• Assess pupil progress, provide feedback, and adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs.
• Develop and contribute to schemes of work, departmental resources, and curriculum design.
• Differentiate instruction for pupils with varying abilities, including SEN, EAL, and high‑ability learners.
• Reflect on teaching effectiveness and continuously improve instructional practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience teaching English to secondary‑level students (Grades 6‑12).
• Familiarity with the High School Diploma curriculum and the IBDP framework.
• Strong knowledge of English language development, literacy, and standard English usage.
• Ability to create an inclusive environment that supports pupils of all backgrounds.
• Commitment to high academic standards and continuous professional development.
