Staff / Principal Engineer - AI-Native Engineering

About the role

TechTree is recruiting on behalf of a global insurance leader that runs complex, business-critical systems at enormous scale. The insurer is moving its entire engineering organisation to an AI-native model, from design and development through testing, deployment and operations, with tooling and foundations already in place. This is a hands-on technical leadership role, neither pure individual contributor nor line management, based in a hybrid setting in Doha.

Key responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture for complex, business-critical enterprise systems.
• Embed agentic and AI-assisted engineering into real delivery teams.
• Apply AI to legacy understanding, test automation and engineering workflows.
• Coach engineers hands-on and influence standards without formal authority.
• At Principal level, own the technical direction of a major business domain.

Required profile

• Deep, current hands-on software engineering and solution architecture experience.
• Real applied experience with AI-assisted or agentic development, not just commentary.
• Product engineering mindset tied to customer journeys and business outcomes.
• Proven ability to mentor and lift other engineers.
• A background in insurance, banking, payments or high-scale digital products is a plus; insurance is not required.

The interview process has 3-5 stages, including a live case-based architecture discussion, with no live coding test.
