Sterile Processing Technician

About the role

The Sterile Processing Technician works in the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) to reprocess reusable medical instruments, including flexible endoscopes. The role ensures that all instruments are safely cleaned, inspected, assembled, packaged, and sterilized for patient use.

Key responsibilities

• Disassemble, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize reusable instrumentation such as flexible endoscopes.
• Prepare case carts by selecting consumable supplies and assembling them with the appropriate instruments for surgical procedures.
• Transport sterile goods to clinical areas and return contaminated items for reprocessing.
• Maintain sterile assurance practices, monitor stock levels, and respond to urgent and routine supply requests.
• Participate in quality assurance processes, perform internal audits, and use T-Doc software for documentation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an SPD technician in a large medical center.
• Current registration/license from country of origin and eligibility for licensure with the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners.

Required skills

• Instrument decontamination and high‑level disinfection.
• Sterilization and assembly of medical devices.
• Case cart preparation and supply management.
• Use of T-Doc software for tracking and documentation.
