Technologist I – Blood Transfusion & BMT/XM

About the role

The Technologist I supports the Blood Transfusion laboratory by validating equipment, developing policies, and delivering high‑quality testing services. The role works closely with the Supervisor and Technologist II and participates in 24/7 laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in validation of all equipment and processes and prepare policies in line with CAP, ISO15189 and JCI standards.
• Perform technical and analytical work in the Blood Transfusion section, including specimen acceptance, testing, and communication of critical results.
• Maintain equipment, ensure adequate reagent stocks, and support preventive maintenance activities.
• Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs, monitor quality control, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide training and mentorship to staff on specific techniques, new methodologies, and standard operating procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant laboratory experience (or recent graduate of Qatar University/UDST).
• Licensure by the Qatar Department of Healthcare Professions and certification by an accredited body.
• Willingness to work a 24/7 schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Laboratory Information System (LIS) for data analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge of ISO15189, CAP and JCI accreditation standards.
• Competence in blood transfusion techniques and equipment validation.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
