Deputy General Counsel – Qatar (Qatari Applicants Only)

About the role

The Deputy General Counsel will support the General Counsel in leading the Legal Department, ensuring consistent legal advice across the organisation and safeguarding the company’s interests in Qatar.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Legal Department and act as the primary source of legal information.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts to protect the company’s interests and ensure enforceability.
• Guide legal registration for new entities, centres and subsidiaries.
• Advise on compliance with Qatari law and other applicable regulations.
• Conduct legal research, analyse statutes, decisions and legal articles.
• Represent the Legal Department in leadership meetings and provide timely legal assistance.
• Coordinate with external counsel to resolve issues and protect company rights.
• Supervise and mentor junior legal staff.
• Develop and maintain legal standards, policies and risk‑mitigation plans.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor or Master’s degree in Law, preferably commercial or business law.
• At least 8 years of full‑time legal experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in a non‑profit or corporate environment with strong research, commercial and contractual exposure.
• Excellent organisational, time‑management and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Fluent English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
