Deputy General Counsel (Qatari Applicants Only)

About the role

The Deputy General Counsel will lead the daily operations of the Legal Department, reporting directly to the General Counsel. This senior position supports the company’s strategic objectives by providing consistent legal advice, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance with Qatari law.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day activities of the Legal Department and act as the primary source of legal information.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts to protect the company’s interests and ensure enforceability.
• Guide legal registration for new entities, subsidiaries, and centers.
• Advise on compliance with Qatari legislation and mitigate legal risks.
• Conduct legal research, analyze statutes, decisions, and codes.
• Represent the Legal Department in leadership meetings and provide timely legal assistance.
• Establish and maintain legal standards, policies, and processes across the organization.
• Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation plans in coordination with risk services.
• Coordinate with external counsel to resolve issues and protect company rights.
• Supervise and mentor junior legal staff to ensure effective departmental support.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor or Master’s degree in Law, preferably commercial or business law.
• Minimum 8 years of full‑time legal experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in a non‑profit or corporate environment with strong research, commercial, and contractual exposure.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management, and attention‑to‑detail abilities.
• Strong interpersonal, presentation, teamwork, and negotiation skills.
• Exceptional written communication; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
