Duty Engineer

About the role

The Duty Engineer is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance and safety of hotel facilities in Doha. You will ensure all equipment functions correctly, respond to guest repair requests and support the hotel’s life‑safety systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and perform preventative maintenance on tools, appliances and equipment.
• Calibrate controls, gauges and meters; locate and operate shut‑off valves.
• Order, label, stock parts and maintain inventory and purchase‑order logs.
• Inspect tools, machines and fire‑safety systems, including fire‑pump and generator run tests.
• Complete life‑safety checklists and assist in developing disaster‑response protocols.
• Respond to guest repair requests and record work information using computer systems.
• Operate power lifts and perform routine physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb.
• Support management in hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating staff.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Minimum 2 years of related engineering or maintenance experience.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• No specific license or certification required.

Required skills

• Preventive maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Calibration of gauges, meters and control devices.
• Inventory management and parts ordering.
• Operation of power lifts and other material‑handling equipment.
• Testing and inspection of life‑safety systems (fire pump, generator, sprinkler and alarm systems).
