Electrical Distribution Technician

About the role

The Electrical Distribution Technician will ensure safe, reliable operation of high‑ and medium‑voltage electrical distribution systems and airfield lighting infrastructure supporting missions at Al Udeid Air Base.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high‑ and medium‑voltage distribution equipment.
• Inspect, service, and repair runway, taxiway, apron, and navigational lighting systems.
• Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on all electrical assets.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, lockout/tagout, and site‑specific safety regulations.
• Coordinate with airfield operations and other maintenance disciplines.
• Document maintenance actions, inspections, and system status accurately.
• Respond to emergency outages and mission‑critical electrical issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician certification.
• Minimum five years experience with high‑ or medium‑voltage distribution systems.
• Minimum five years experience in airfield lighting (runway, taxiway, control systems).
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; U.S. passport preferred.
• Ability to meet USCENTCOM deployment policy and obtain a Qatar residency visa.
• Willingness to work in extreme dust, heat, and long‑hour conditions.
• 100% travel in a deployed location and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
